Education and Work Experience

Mio Tsubakimoto is associate professor of Center for Meta Learning School of Systems Information Science at Future University Hakodate, Japan. She received Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) at Tokyo Institute of Technology in 2008.

She has held teaching experiences in various contents including as a part-time lecturer at Department of Library, Archival, and Information Studies at Tsurumi University, Japan (2006-2007), at School of Network and Information at Senshu University, and at Faculty Comprehensive Educational Science, School of Education at Tokyo Gakugei University (2007-2011), Japan. She has taught undergraduate students Educational Psychology, Educational Methodology, Information Processing, and Educational Measurement & Evaluation as a classes for teacher’s license at teacher-training courses.

She also belonged to as a researcher at The Japan Institute for Educational Measurement, Inc. (2005-2008), a research collaborator at National Institute for Educational Policy Research (2006). She has started her academic carrier as a Project Assistant Professor at University of Tokyo (2008-2011), attached to two research organizations of academic-industrial collaboration: Microsoft chair of Educational Environment and Technology In Center for Research and Development of Higher Education, and Benesse Department of Educational Advanced Technology In Interfaculty Initiative in Information Studies.

She has co-authored “Establishing a Sustainable Learning Support Organization and the Practice of Peer Tutoring Centering on College Students (pp.97-111, 2013), in Educational Technology Research, 36(1&2)”, “Establishing a Learning Support Organization Centered on College Students and Practical Use of a Teaching and Learning e-Portfolio for Tutors (2014), in Proceedings of Hawaii International Conference on Education.” and “The Socla Project: an Attempt to Build an Innovative Study Environment through SNS Linkage of Second-Year High School Students and Working Adults (pp.1276-1282, 2011), in T.Bastiaens & Ebner (Eds.) Proceedings of World Conference on Educational Multimedia, Hypermedia & Telecommunications.”

Research Interests

Her current research interests include blended learning (flipped classroom) program development and evaluation, dual-process theory in text revising (incubation), e-portfolio for student tutors, and learning design and evaluation for learning center.
